One of the most popular DM’s I get is when I put up a fabric poll and I inevitably get, “Where do you get all your fun fabrics?!”

Now you can join the fun every month with two new-to-Bateswood fabrics, all printed cotton and complementary cording mailed to your house to either pair with a current project or to add to your collection for the future when inspiration strikes.

Because January is always off to a hot start, you have until January 5th to sign up for the kick off month!

Experimental Saturday: tried a camp flag finish on this forthcoming canvas with grommets, Heat & Bond, and a PRAYER (several).

Some takeaways:
I knew I didn’t want cording so the edges are exposed if you look closely. I’ll definitely have a binding stitch added before I try this again.

I added one layer of batting but I think I’ll skip it next time. I like the added depth but the canvas itself is sturdy enough.

I sewed the layers together with invisible thread (Guterman) in the well of the stitching between the background and the navy border. This helped hide it but it left an open edge so you can see the canvas if you really examine it.

I really love this style but it needs some work before I give any type of advice or tutorial, just wanted to spread the gospel of experimentation! Had this rattling around for way too long and so happy I put my fingers to work.

Cutting Photo Fabric:
Would you believe this is the first time I’ve had to cut photo fabric?
I saw I didn’t have a lot of room to waste and wanted to keep these two cute faces in line so here’s what I did:
✂️ Traced and cut the shape of the front canvas from a clear ziplock bag (any clear material will do)
🎯 made sure to center the clear circle on the photo and traced a larger circle for cutting, adding roughly an additional 3/4” inch
🪡 laced and proceeded as usual!

Projects have about 12 week turnaround time right now and while I’m hoping to slim that down, I can’t make any promises!

Overzealous corders: this Tip Tuesday is for you!
I try to hard to twist as much as I can without getting these little knots but it’s inevitable. I figured out that some gentle pulling and stretching gets rid of them while not compromising the twist. Enjoy!

The Great Needlepoint Exchange 2025 registration starts January 5! It is open to absolutely everyone: new, seasoned, in-between stitchers.

You are paired up with TWO partners: one you receive a package from 👈 and one you send a package to 👉. Think: needlepoint pen pal/subscription box/care package. The minimum is one canvas, the maximum is a value of $150. This could look like: canvas + threads + a tool, canvas + seeds for the garden + new needlepoint book, canvas + sweatshirt; the possibilities are endless!
